Cafeteria Assistant (6 hours)/Bus Driver

About the Role

This position serves as both a Cafeteria Assistant and a Bus Driver/Sub Bus Driver for Wayne County Public Schools, assisting in the preparation, sale, and service of food for the child nutrition program while also fulfilling bus driving duties as required by the principal.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, policies, and procedures, along with state and federal regulations relevant to the child nutrition department.
• Assist in the preparation of food and clean/wash dishes and equipment.
• Collect money and ID cards during meals, make reports of lunches and collections, and tabulate paid, free, and reduced-price meal counts.
• Participate in training programs and keep the work area neat and clean.
• Perform related duties as requested by the Principal or Cafeteria Manager.
• Serve as a Bus Driver/Sub Bus Driver for a school bus, maintaining all qualifications and certifications prescribed by the State Board of Education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must maintain appropriate bus driver certification at all times.
• Demonstrate functional knowledge of basic principles of food cookery and food service equipment.
• Ability to follow written recipes and instructions.
• Ability to operate dishwashers, food grinders, mixers, meat slicers, ranges, ovens, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and make change accurately and rapidly.
• Physical ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force.

Pay

$15.60 per hour (Grade 04C).

Schedule

Ten-month work year.
