About the role
As a member of our team, you won't just work for the city; you’ll co-create it. City of Newcastle (CN) is seeking an experienced and motivated Café & Bar Operations Supervisor to join our City Venues team in City Hall and Civic Theatre.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of food and beverage operations across Civic events, venues, and locations, ensuring every customer enjoys a welcoming, professional, and memorable experience.
- Provide proactive, detail-focused operational support to ensure the seamless execution of day-to-day café and bar services as well as event operations.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment while maintaining the highest standards of service and presentation.
- Supervise staff in day-to-day and event operations, manage all aspects of stock control, and ensure café and bar spaces are presented to an exceptional standard.
- Help deliver smooth, high-quality food and beverage experiences that exceed expectations.
Requirements
- Experience in café and bar operations supervision.
- Proven ability to manage staff effectively and maintain high standards of service.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
- Customer service excellence and a passion for hospitality.
Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in hospitality or a related field.
- Valid First Aid Certificate.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Knowledge of food safety and health and hygiene practices.

Pay
$41,700.98 + 12% Superannuation pro-rata per annum for a 21.5 hour week.
Schedule
Working 21.5 hours per week across Tuesday to Thursday, this is a fixed term opportunity until January 2027.
