Cafe Attendant (Temp/Part-Time)

About the Role

The Caf Attendant is responsible for preparing food and providing guests and students with courteous, friendly, sincere, and efficient service that meets or exceeds expectations. This position fulfills orders and completes sales transactions within the Clist Caf at the Culinary Institute of the South on the Bluffton Campus. We seek strong team players with a passion for food, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction through courteous, friendly, and efficient service.
• Take food and beverage orders and prepare them to standards promptly.
• Set up the café, create menus, signage, and daily specials.
• Accept payments and follow proper cash handling procedures in accordance with college policy.
• Maintain professional appearance, hygiene, and uniform standards.
• Multitask and manage multiple customers simultaneously.
• Stand for extended periods, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Work with students to ensure proper food handling, presentation, and quality.
• Prepare and serve ready-to-eat food while maintaining a clean and sanitized workspace.
• Train and coach students assisting in the café with respect and encouragement.
• Rotate and maintain product freshness by adhering to sell-by dates.
• Perform side work and maintain service and sanitation standards per health code regulations.
• Establish and maintain par stocks of supplies, inventory, and restock as needed.
• Keep the café clean and organized at all times.
• Attend required training and department meetings.
• Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management.
