About the role

The Youth Program/Education Assistant II (S) position within the Agency Safety Division of the Department of Public Safety serves as a lead worker / mentor, providing supervision to ensure quality care and prescribed therapeutic interventions in a safe environment for adolescents in state residential treatment programs.

Responsibilities

• Train on broad areas such as complex behavioral programming and on-the-spot counseling.
• Provide health care services ranging from minimal levels of assistance to extensive supervision.
• Work with adolescents and their teachers, parents, and clinical staff to improve clients' social, academic, and daily functioning skills.
• Monitor the level of success of the intervention and conduct ongoing assessments of patients.
• Supervise work, train new staff, perform personnel functions, and ensure the safe and smooth operation of the unit during assigned shifts.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in human services or related degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience.
• High school or General Educational Development diploma and four years of directly related work experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CPR certification and listing as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation required prior to providing direct patient care.

Skills and Abilities

• Experience effectively supervising and training a staff of 5 or more.
• Experience with youth and/or adults in teaching, coaching, supervising, documenting observations, and report writing.
• Experience organizing and/or leading groups for training or service projects.

Salary Range: $41,407.00 - $62,111.00
