CADD Technician, Public Works
About the role
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who has experience or is interested in Land Development and Public Works/Local Infrastructure projects, including industrial facilities, commercial developments, residential subdivisions, municipal roadways, trails and drainage improvements. This is a great opportunity for beginners to learn engineering design and drafting.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the drafting of Land Development and Public Works and other group projects, working as part of a design team under the direct supervision of a Lead CADD Technician and Project Manager.
- Work closely with engineers and other team members to understand project requirements and incorporate feedback into the drawings.
- Create detailed technical drawings and plans based on rough sketches, specifications, and calculations provided.
- Modify existing drawings to reflect changes or updates as directed by project managers or engineers.
- Organize and maintain a digital library of drawings, plans, and related documentation for easy retrieval and reference.
- Assist in reviewing completed drawings for accuracy and completeness before submission.
- Support project team coordination activities by providing technical assistance and ensuring timely delivery of drawings.
- Operate CADD software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, to assist with the preparation of roadway, drainage, utility, grading, and site development plan sets.
- Participate in field surveys, when necessary, to collect data and verify existing conditions.
Requirements
- 0-5 years of experience as a CADD Technician/Drafter.
- Experience with Land Development and Public Works/Local Infrastructure projects, including light industrial, office/warehouse developments, commercial and residential subdivisions, municipal roadway, trails and drainage preferred.
- Associate’s degree or diploma in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience in Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads Designer.
- Certification in CADD software (e.g., AutoCAD Certification) is a plus.

- Ability to identify and resolve issues in drawings and design plans.
- Efficiently manage time to meet project deadlines and handle multiple assignments.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and support colleagues as needed.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to travel to various project sites.
- Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
Skills
- Proficiency in CADD software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer).
