Responsibilities
- Drafting: Create plans and schematics to support project pursuits or ongoing projects using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Surface Modelling: Modify and revise existing drawings to produce interim work surfaces for sequencing and planning large project sites.
- Quantity Survey: Prepare initial quantity take-offs for estimates and project baselines, and progressive quantity reports for recurring payments using CAD and Agtek software.
- Proposal Support: Prepare schematics for project pursuits and marketing materials.
- Prepare DTM: Assist drone/survey technicians in processing raw point clouds to produce Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and topographical plans.
- Coordinate with Team Members: Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and engineers to understand project requirements and support planning.
- Review and Quality Assurance: Conduct quality control checks to ensure drawings and surfaces accurately represent reference data and site conditions.
- Document Management: Maintain and organize a comprehensive filing system for drawings, schematics, and related documents.
- Prepare Drafts for Approval: Present drafts to project leads and stakeholders for review, incorporating feedback and revisions.
- Value Engineering: Work with construction/preconstruction teams to develop solutions to technical problems and suggest design improvements.
- Support Project Timelines: Assist in meeting proposal and project deadlines by managing workflow, time, and resources efficiently.
- Technology and Tool Management: Stay updated with the latest AutoCAD updates and drafting tools to enhance efficiency.
Requirements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, including 2D and 3D drafting.
- Knowledge of drafting techniques, engineering standards, and map projections.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, engineers, and clients.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines.
- Capability to identify design issues and propose solutions.
Qualifications
- Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- 4+ years of experience as an AutoCAD Operator or similar design/drafting role.
- 1+ years of experience performing quantity takeoffs.
- Familiarity with graphics design software like Adobe Illustrator (a plus).
- Valid state-issued Driver’s License with a driving record meeting Saiia’s risk management guidelines.
Work Environment
- Full-time, office-based position (or hybrid, depending on company policy).
- Occasional site visits for project coordination or measurements.
- Occasional overtime may be required based on project deadlines.
- Travel to various site locations (estimated 25% of time).
