CAD Technician

Job Summary

About the Role

This role involves operating a CAD system to update a variety of drawings (flow diagrams, P&ID's, mechanical, piping and piping isometrics, tank drawings, including miscellaneous civil and structural drawings, equipment layouts).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate and optimized for efficient production.
  • Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and quality teams to update designs or documentation issues.
  • Suggest and implement process improvement, cost down, or best practice ideas.
  • Assist in the preparation of work instructions and/or Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Create and revise 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and assemblies for manufacturing components and systems.
  • Review engineering sketches, specifications, and customer requirements to produce accurate technical drawings.
  • Maintain site drawing system file including standards, templates, and documentation according to company and industry guidelines.
  • Avoid repetitive tasks by suggesting and implementing process improvements.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in drafting, CAD technology, mechanical/electrical design, or 2+ years' equivalent work experience in similar industry-related field.
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical design, or 5 years of trade experience in a similar industry-related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and computer communication skills.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar).
  • Specialized training in AutoCAD 2D drawing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access with MS SQL experience is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-function teams to stay on task with limited supervision.
  • Must be self-motivated and strive for success.

Qualifications

  • Physical Requirements: Position requires the ability to sit for a minimum of 6 hours per day; stand, walk, bend over and reach above head less than an hour a day; minimal lifting or carrying of 50 pounds occasionally and repetitive use of hands/arms for writing and computer work. Position requires the ability to climb ladders and be at high levels.
  • Work Conditions: Fast-paced bio-chemical/chemical/dry blending manufacturing environment working both in office & plant settings. May perform activities in an environment containing hazardous elements and requiring safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines.

$29.00 - $35.00/hour
