CAD Specialist II
This is a remote role with minimal onsite requirement (one week every six weeks onsite).
About the role
The CAD Specialist II supports architectural, engineering, and facility design projects by creating, modifying, converting, and standardizing CAD drawings using industry-standard software. This role prepares detailed drawings for building alterations and additions, including floor plans, sections, elevations, and construction details, based on rough sketches, verbal direction, and preliminary models.
Responsibilities
- Support with creating, modifying, converting, and standardizing CAD drawings using industry-standard software to support architectural, engineering, and facility design projects.
- Prepare detailed drawings for building alterations and additions, including floor plans, sections, elevations, and construction details.
- Develop drawings based on rough sketches, verbal instructions, or preliminary models.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure all deliverables conform to established CAD standards and specifications.
- Identify and correct non-compliant data elements within CAD files to maintain consistency and compliance with governing data requirements.
- Organize, file, and index completed drawings within a centralized Electronic Document Management System (EDMS) to ensure accessibility and long-term record integrity.
Requirements
- Experience creating, modifying, converting, and standardizing CAD drawings using industry-standard CAD tools.
- Ability to prepare detailed architectural, engineering, and facility-related drawings.
- Ability to interpret sketches, verbal guidance, and preliminary models and translate them into accurate CAD drawings.
- Experience conducting QA reviews for CAD compliance and correcting non-compliant file elements.
- Ability to maintain and organize technical drawing files in an EDMS.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency in technical documentation.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Drafting OR in a related physical or geospatial science field such as: Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Cartography, Information Technology, Computer Science, Urban Studies/Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Interior Design, Geography, Construction-related field
OR
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience using AutoCAD software.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting architectural, engineering, construction, or federal facility projects.
- Familiarity with established CAD standards and government data compliance requirements.
- Experience improving CAD file quality, standardization, or documentation workflows.
- Knowledge of EDMS workflows and long-term record management.

Pay
We reasonably believe the pay range for this position is between $25.00 - $28.00/hour. Multiple factors are taken into account with any offer of employment by ALEX, including experience, education, and skills.
