About the role

Since 1927, Sherman + Reilly has been designing and manufacturing equipment that powers North America’s electric utility industry. Our mission is to provide the tools that ensure safety and efficiency for electric utility crews. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity and functionality of our engineering design tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM environments, ensuring smooth operation and efficient data flow.
  • Administer engineering-class workstations, optimizing configurations for CAD, large assembly, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Support the Bill of Materials (BOM) process, ensuring accurate and consistent part numbering and metadata.
  • Ensure the PDM vault is healthy, managing permissions, workflows, revisions, and backups.
  • Optimize performance and reliability of the CAD and PDM systems, establishing baselines and monitoring for root cause analysis.
  • Support the broader toolset used by the engineering team, including third-party applications and 3D printers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT leadership to establish standards and strategies for CAD and PDM.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting SolidWorks in a production engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with SolidWorks PDM administration, including vault setup, workflows, permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of engineering-class workstation hardware, GPU/driver management, and Windows optimization.
  • Experience supporting the BOM process and understanding of engineering data structures.
  • Strong root-cause troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and integration layers.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, with the ability to support and train non-technical engineers.
  • Nice to have:
    • Experience integrating CAD/PDM data with ERP or PLM platforms.
    • SolidWorks certifications (CSWP/CSWE).
    • PDM administration certification.
    • Scripting experience (PowerShell or similar).
    • Familiarity with manufacturing environments, such as wire, cable, or heavy equipment.
    • Experience with FEA/simulation workloads and workstation tuning.
    • Experience with endpoint management (Intune/Autopilot), Active Directory, and enterprise security tooling.

Qualifications

  • Experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Understanding of engineering data structures and BOM processes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and training skills.
