CAD Operator IV

About the role

Transforms initial rough product designs using computer aided design (CAD) into working documents. Reviews engineering drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May direct and lead the work of others. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities

• Transform rough product designs into detailed CAD working documents.
• Review engineering drawings and designs for compliance with established specifications and standards.
• Incorporate construction field revisions into CAD drawings.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in CAD operations or a related field.
• Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD/AutoDesk.
• Experience designing high voltage substations.
• Familiarity with a document management system.
• Ability to read and decipher construction field revisions.

Skills

• Proficiency in MicroStation and AutoCAD/AutoDesk.
• Strong understanding of CAD principles and practices.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience incorporating field revisions into CAD drawings.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.

Safety Requirements

• Hard hat required.
• Safety gloves required.
• Steel-toe shoes required.

Work Arrangement

• Full-time, hybrid role with 3 days per week in the Raleigh, NC office.
• Generally 40 hours per week; overtime may be required with pre-approval.
• Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
