About the role

The CAD Designer for Telecom Outside Plant (OSP) New Product Development plays a critical technical role in transforming conceptual ideas into robust, next-generation telecom products. This position collaborates closely with laboratory engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure that Telcordia Generic Requirements (GR) specifications, along with internal standards, are effectively integrated into high-quality product designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
  • Update and revise designs based on feedback and engineering changes
  • Ensure designs meet specifications, standards, and manufacturability requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and manufacturing teams
  • Organize and manage CAD files and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in an engineering related study and trained in 3D modeling using Creo
  • Proficiency in CREO software
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and materials
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in product development or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with SAP Based PLM systems and revision control processes

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to work in laboratory and engineering environments around equipment, chambers, and instrumentation
  • Occasional lifting of 30–50 lbs during test setup or equipment handling
  • Standing, bending, or working in environmental or ESD-controlled areas as required
  • Use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) per procedures
  • Occasional off-shift support for time-critical testing or prototype builds
