CAD Engineer Associate (Summer 2027)

About the role

Astranis is seeking a CAD Engineer Associate to join our team during the summer of 2027. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the design and development of spacecraft components under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Responsibilities

• Draw components, structures, and manifolds for spacecraft and supporting structures
• Maintain and improve our design library and data infrastructure
• Develop, ideate, and document considerate practices that enable good and efficient design

Requirements

• Holds a four-year B.S. degree or is currently pursuing a M.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or an equivalent technical degree like physics, applied math, or industrial design
• Passionate about hardware development, especially in a fast-paced environment with hands-on development
• Experience with SolidWorks
• Experience with GD+T and engineering drawings

Bonus

• Experience with design of complex assemblies and components
• Experience in the design of spaceflight components and/or vacuum compatible systems

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status required (to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations)

Skills

• Strong understanding of CAD software
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication skills
