CAD Drafter

About the role

VARITE is seeking a qualified CAD Drafter for a client in Hauppauge, NY. The client is a global leader in smart building technologies, energy solutions, and industrial automation, providing products and services that optimize energy efficiency, sustainability, and performance across buildings, industrial facilities, and vehicles.

Duration: 6 months. Location: Hauppauge, NY. Work mode: On‑site.

Core Responsibilities

• Create and revise construction drawings under supervision.
• Produce floor plan layouts, riser diagrams, electrical interconnection drawings, and installation termination drawings.
• Prepare submittal documentation, including product data sheets and battery calculations.
• Maintain project drawing files and records, track and update as‑built drawings.
• Support design team members with assigned projects.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficient in AutoCAD 2014 or newer.
• Strong skills with Windows‑based software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Experience in the construction industry, preferably electrical construction, mechanical construction, or low‑voltage systems installation.
• Professional industry experience preferred over purely academic or club‑based drafting experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Hauppauge, NY and reliably commute.

Preferred Background

• Experience supporting fire alarm systems, security systems, access control systems, or low‑voltage specialty systems.
• Experience with construction drawing preparation and revisions.

Pay

$25.00 – $28.00 per hour on W‑2.

Schedule

On‑site, full‑time for a 6‑month contract.
