CAD Drafter

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Create precise, technical drawings for structural steel and steel plate fabrication projects.
• Revise/modify existing drawings based on engineering changes, client feedback, or site inspection notes.
• Interpret engineering design drawings and translate them to shop capabilities.
• Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards, technical specifications, and safety regulations.
• Work with engineers, architects, and designers to interpret data and finalize layouts.
• Prepare, update, and manage project files, bill of materials, and reports.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to sit and work directly on a computer for extended periods of time.
• Absolutely must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Sometimes required to walk in the structural steel fabrication shop for inventory and to verify materials.
• Some overtime and weekend work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years steel detailing experience preferred.
• Extensive experience in AutoCAD, TEKLA, or other detailing software.
• Understanding of engineering principles, construction methods, or manufacturing techniques.
• Must have ability to read, understand, and interpret detailed shop drawings and blueprints.
• Must have good oral/written communication skills.
• Ability to compute, and understand, technical, calculations, including, angles, weights, and measurements.
• Exceptional attention to detail for ensuring, accuracy, and quality control.
