CAD Drafter

About the role

BAE Systems helps protect those who protect us. As one of the world’s leading defense contractors, we operate a manufacturing facility at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant (HAAP) in Kingsport, TN, where we develop and manufacture safer explosives for government and commercial customers. We are seeking a CAD Drafter to support the design, construction, and commissioning of multi-million dollar modernization programs as well as day-to-day project support at the Holston Army Ammunition Plant.

Responsibilities

• Create and update Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) using AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault.
• Prepare accurate technical drawings and maintain organized document control.
• Ensure proper revision and version management.
• Work closely with project stakeholders to incorporate design changes.
• Uphold drafting standards and ensure all documentation is current, accessible, and compliant with established workflows.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read redline markups and communicate effective drawing designs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed coursework in CAD fundamentals, technical drawing, and industrial processes.
• Exposure to 3D CAD.
• Experience or training in AutoCAD and Autodesk Vault.
• Experience developing As-built drawings and Installation Design Plans (IDPs).

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $46,898 – $75,035. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.

Schedule

• 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off).
• On-site collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely two days per week.
