CAD Drafter

About the role

The CAD Drafter supports the Lighting & Technology Design team at Visual Comfort & Co. by developing and maintaining accurate CAD drawings, lighting schedules, and specification packages for both residential and commercial projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize CAD drawing packages for Senior Designers
• Update and revise drawings based on redlines provided by Sales, Project Management, and other teams
• Develop lighting schedules and specification packages
• Maintain drawing accuracy and consistency throughout project phases
• Cook up with internal stakeholders to incorporate project revisions and updates
• Absorb project documentation and design deliverables
• Support project teams with drafting and technical documentation needs

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in drafting, architecture, design, or a related field required, or equivalent practical experience
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, architectural technology, or a related discipline preferred
• 2+ years of AutoCAD or CAD drafting experience in residential or commercial environments preferred
• Experience working in lighting design, architectural lighting, or technology integration environments preferred
• Familiarity with residential and/or commercial construction documentation preferred
• Exposure to lighting control systems and coordination with project teams preferred
• Basic understanding of lighting design and switching/control systems
• Strong knowledge of architectural floor plans, layouts, wall conditions, window placements, and construction details
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
• Experience creating lighting schedules and specification packages preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and revisions simultaneously
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in a remote work environment

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
