Responsibilities

- Interpret loading diagrams (uplift, snow drift, ponding, etc.) with assistance from internal Project Managers and Engineers, and apply load requirements to steel joists and girders.
- Analyze connections of steel joists and girders to supporting members (beams, columns, walls, etc.).
- Identify special connections that may be required.
- Coordinate with other trades, including structural steel fabricators, precast suppliers, fire protection, HVAC designers, and athletic equipment suppliers (e.g., basketball goals) to incorporate their needs into joist/girder designs.
- Identify and apply special joist and girder profile properties (single/double pitch, bowstring/barrel, etc.).
- Create joist/girder/deck placement plans, sections, and details to reflect New Millennium’s interpretation of contract drawings for review/approval by the Structural Engineer of Record and for use by ironworkers during erection.
- Create Bills of Material for all joists, girders, and deck that import into our design program, which then generates shop orders for joists, girders, deck, bridging, etc.
