About the role
Develop detailed 2D production drawings and 3D solid/surface models using specialized CAD software. Support engineering and manufacturing teams through design reviews, tooling identification, CNC file development, and troubleshooting of design or compatibility issues.
Responsibilities
- Review part, component, and system technical data for completeness and accuracy
- Define and develop documentation processes
- Identify tooling, jig, and fixture requirements; support and review engineering designs
- Support CNC file development, testing, and implementation as needed
- Identify design interferences, manufacturing concerns, and drawing discrepancies
- Provide support to Project Manager and Engineering personnel in scheduling, data gathering, limited analyses, and preparation of technical/project reports, test reports, drawings, and specifications
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing team members to understand specifications and troubleshoot potential design or compatibility issues
- Interpolate or derive data when working with incomplete technical data to support reverse engineering efforts
- Update and modify designs based on client feedback, testing results, or changing project scopes
- Participate in project events as needed by Project Manager, Engineering, or supervisor
- Report project status and results
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a technical/scientific discipline or equivalent work experience preferred
- 4+ years of experience using 2D and 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, NX, or comparable platforms
- Strong understanding of dimensional mathematics, physics, and manufacturing or construction materials
- Experience in aerospace, precision machining, reverse engineering, commercial product, or automotive component design preferred
- Working knowledge of applicable ASME Y14 engineering standards
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Must be a US citizen; ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Physical Requirements
- Able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms
- Perform frequent wrist, hand, and finger movements
- Prolonged periods of computer screen use, while sitting or standing at a desk
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate safety gear (e.g., eyewear, gloves, masks, hearing protection) for the assigned task
- Able to safely lift and carry up to 20 pounds at a time

Pay
$60,000–$80,000 per year, commensurate with experience and industry standards.
