CAD Designer - Electrical (Oil & Gas)

About the role

WSP India is seeking a CAD Designer (Electrical) to create and edit electrical technical drawings in compliance with WSP CAD and Client Standards. This position is based in Mumbai or Bangalore and involves collaborating with a mining team in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical drawings for detailed design projects, including:
  • Power distribution single line diagrams
  • Protection and metering single line diagrams
  • Earthing single line diagrams
  • Electrical layouts (substations/switchrooms, earthing, power reticulation, equipment, and services)
  • Electrical/control enclosures and switchboard general arrangement drawings
  • Detailed electrical schematics/wiring diagrams
  • Termination diagrams
  • Cable block diagrams
  • Cable schedules
  • Interlock, earthing, and protection diagrams
• Implement quality procedures, processes, and self-checks to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Report progress of work assignments and ensure project schedules and budgets are met.
• Communicate proactively with internal peers and project team members.
• Actively participate in the design development process, providing input and feedback to Australian teams.
• Coordinate with Australian lead offices.
• Manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects using effective planning, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
• Adhere to Health & Safety requirements and practices.
• Maintain a growth mindset focused on continual improvement, learning, and development.
• Complete accurate timesheets on a weekly basis.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical.
• 6–10 years of experience in electrical design and drawing deliverables.
• Familiarity with working in a LEAN environment.
• Experience with projects in Australia or New Zealand is an advantage.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.
• C. Eng or P. Eng qualification would be an added advantage.

Skills

• Mandatory:
  • Experience working as an electrical designer on detailed design projects in mining, mineral processing, or related heavy industries.
  • Ability to develop design drawings from high-level input and design templates.
  • Proficiency in CAD software packages, including AutoCAD, Autodesk Plant 3D, and Bentley OpenPlant (experience across multiple packages is desirable).
  • Team player with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with electrical equipment and terminology.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to coordinate work with an Australian team and work competently with minimal supervision.
• Desirable:
  • Experience working with a remote/offshore international electrical team.
  • Familiarity with Australian electrical standards and work practices.
