Black Box is a global leader in Integrated Technology Solutions, dedicated to social responsibility and fostering a culture of integrity, diversity, inclusivity, and empowerment. We are currently seeking an Infrastructure Technician to join our team in Rosemount, MN.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit a high level of safety and quality on all work.
- Follow safe work practices from the Company’s Safety Program and the client’s worksite policies in regard to production standards, codes, and industry's best practices.
- Install, decommission, and manage critical cabling and network infrastructure in a Data Center environment.
- Install, set, level network cabinets, ground network cabinets, label copper and fiber jumpers, and dress cables according to QAQC standards.
- Pull copper and fiber cables at both IDF and BDF, stage, build, and install racks, and prefab jacks, face plates, and patch panels.
- Read, comprehend, and adhere to project design drawings and plans, specifications, manufacturer recommendations, and installation standards.
- Document and track all work performed daily.
- Proactively maintain work area by organizing materials, tools, and equipment, collecting debris, and ensuring hazardous conditions are promptly and appropriately addressed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Zero to 5 years of experience.
- OSHA 10 certification preferred, obtainable within 90 days of hire.
- First Aid/CPR certificate preferred, obtainable within 90 days of hire.
- BICSI Technician (TECH) Certification preferred.
- Required tool list as per IBEW Local 110 Collective Bargaining Agreement.

- Ability to listen carefully and follow instructions.

- Able to distinguish color.
- Basic understanding of structured cabling system installation and commissioning.
- Basic understanding of telecom connectivity.
- Knowledge in safe and appropriate use of basic hand tools both for the Telecom and Construction Industry alike.
- Ability to work in a fast-changing environment.
- Executes work with a high degree of attention to detail.
- Willingness to work days, nights, and weekends as required.
- Self-motivated, possesses an excellent work ethic, and has a reliable source of daily transportation.
- Proficient in the use of a computer and/or handheld tablet.
- Read, write, and understand English.
Career Path Development
- Complete applicable manufacturer ICPs certifications.
- Pass FOA CFOS/T – Comprehensive Fiber Optic Testing Techniques with a score of ≥70%.
- Pass FOA CFOS/FC – Advanced Fiber Optic Testing with a score of ≥70%.
- Complete BICSI Technician (TECH) Certification.
Physical Demands
- Comfortable with ISP (Inside Plant) and OSP (Outside plant) work environments.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- Frequent standing for long periods of time and walking.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be comfortable working from ladder/lift heights and in tight confined spaces.
- Must be able to work in high and low temperature areas.
