About the role

Pike Electric, LLC is seeking a Cable Splicer to join our team. This position reports to the Foreman and is responsible for constructing and repairing electrical underground systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform new construction, maintenance and repair of energized and de-energized underground systems while prioritizing safety.
  • Lead crew members during pre-job and tailgate safety briefings.
  • Train and mentor apprentices and groundmen.
  • Install and repair underground power, conductors and related hardware.
  • Comprehensively understand tagging procedures, grounding, induced voltage, and proper tool usage and test equipment.
  • Work in confined spaces and near energized equipment.
  • Operate backhoes, bucket trucks, digger trucks, mini excavators, and other heavy machinery.
  • Work outdoors in various environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
  • Available to work outages, storms, emergencies, and on-call rotations.
  • Perform live-line work using approved gloving and hot-stick techniques on energized lines.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including personal protective equipment (PPE) use and understanding of insulated protective covers to isolate differences of potential.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of recent underground experience.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Willingness to travel long distances on short notice.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you will be required to talk, listen, and use hand signals to communicate. The job frequently requires you to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects, operate tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Work environments may include exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Noise levels in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform job responsibilities in extreme heat, cold, wet, windy, and storm conditions.
