Cable Assembler

About the Role

The candidate is responsible for the assembly of complex cable and wire harness assemblies. The candidate must demonstrate quality workmanship and produce high-quality assemblies that exceed our customer’s expectations, in accordance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow wire harness assembly instructions/blueprints
• Cut and strip wire to specifications
• Crimp terminals to wire ends
• Install and shrink insulation sleeving
• Install cable ties
• Route, wire, and assemble electronic components using wire layout fixtures
• Operate equipment such as crimp presses, wire twisters, and wire strippers
• Conduct functional and continuity tests of wire harnesses and cable assemblies using test fixtures
• Use a solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products
• Work with minimal supervision from the Production Department Supervisor
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Wire/Cable harness assembly experience is a must
• Familiar with IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620
• Minimum of 4+ years’ experience in a manufacturing/assembly line
• Ability to read and comprehend process documentation including Bills of Materials and Assembly drawings
• Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Highly organized with the ability to keep count of parts
• Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions

Qualifications

High school diploma (Associate Degree preferred).
