Cabinet Designer
Job Summary
The Cabinet Design / Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and timely cabinet bids for our Single-Family Division. This role supports bidding, pricing, and proposal development by reviewing plans and specifications, completing layouts, and generating estimates that align with company margin and pricing strategies. The Designer/Estimator reports to the Cabinet Design Manager and works closely with Sales and Operations teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review architectural plans, specifications and bid submittal documents
- Utilize 2020 Design programs to create designs, renderings and cabinet pricing
- Calculate box count labor rates, material costs, and quantities by analyzing layouts to create correct proposals
- Adhere to project deadlines set by builders
- Complete bid submittal supporting documents for builder requirements when needed
- Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing tasks as needed
- Communicate with internal and external teams to clarify scope, specifications, and pricing assumptions
- Maintain organized records of estimates, plans, and supporting documentation
Requirements
- Educational: Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years’ experience in cabinet design required
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency with 2020 design software required
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of cabinet installations, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel formulas to create and manipulate bid templates
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, critical thinker – problem solver, able to promote a team environment, reliable, effective multitasker with a positive attitude and professional communication skills
- Physical Demands: Ability to sit at computer monitor for long periods throughout the day, regular standing, walking, using hands, handling or feeling objects, typing and using a mouse, reaching with hands and arms, talking and/or hearing
- Work Environment: Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM, with flexibility as needed, remote work is available, may have to meet tight deadlines
