Cabinet Builder

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and Interpreting Blueprints
• Choosing appropriate types of wood, hardware, and other materials based on project specifications
• Cutting and Shaping Wood
• Assembling cabinet components using nails, screws, dowels, and adhesives
• Finishing surfaces with stains, paints, or varnishes as required
• Installing hardware such as hinges, handles, and drawer pulls
• Inspecting completed cabinets for quality and making necessary adjustments or repairs
• Maintaining and cleaning woodworking tools and machinery
• Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines
• Collaborating with designers, other builders, and supervisors

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in woodworking, carpentry, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: 5 years previous experience as a cabinet builder or in a similar woodworking role is highly desirable.
• Skills: Proficiency in using various woodworking tools and machinery, strong understanding of woodworking techniques and principles, ability to read and interpret blueprints and design plans, attention to detail and precision in construction and measuring, good problem-solving skills, strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods
• Ability to lift and move materials up to [specific weight, e.g., 50 lbs]
• Good vision, including depth perception and the ability to distinguish colors

Work Environment

• Workshop or manufacturing setting with exposure to dust, noise, and potentially hazardous machinery
• May require the use of protective equipment, such as safety glasses, ear protection, and masks.
