Cabin Counselor - Male

Essential Responsibilities

  • Welcoming, settling, and safety of campers for each session
  • Ensuring campers are aware of personal cleanliness, appropriately dressed for the weather, and taking precautions in dealing with sun and insect protection
  • Taking an example of and encouraging respect at all times
  • Note-taking of all announcements
  • Aiding in teaching activities as needed
  • Sure that each camper is getting proper rest and encouraging a rest time for tired campers
  • Encouraging promptness throughout the day, including lights-out time
  • Leading the cabin group on dining hall procedures, cabin cleanliness, meal cookouts, overnight camp outs, group activities, and nightly devotions
  • Serving as spotters at lakefront as needed
  • Planning activities for the cabin group on rainy days unless otherwise programmed
  • Checking out cabin group on each camp closing day
  • Sanitizing showers and bathrooms daily, sanitizing dorm area after each session, ensuring safe storage of all cleaning supplies
  • Completing appropriate daily reports each day, sharing with the Program Director or local leaders, any concerns for follow-up after camp
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Previous experience working with children preferred
