About the role
Production Shift Supervisor responsible for safely directing and coordinating the activities of Process Shift Technicians in a chemical manufacturing facility.
Responsibilities
- Safely supervise, direct, and coordinate the activities of the Process Shift Technicians.
- Manage execution of routine equipment, safety inspections, and operation of the unit.
- Maintain an adequate supply of materials and manage inventory inspections.
- Develop, implement, and conduct employee training programs related to equipment operations.
- Review and document changes in operating procedures.
- Train shift personnel on changes in procedures and work instructions.
- Assist in plant shutdown, start-up, and turnaround planning and related activities.
- Document and investigate violations of company policy, standard operating procedures, and work practices and take appropriate corrective action.
- Comply with all Safety Procedures.
- Ensure maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with Shintech policies and procedures.
- Indicate necessary actions when equipment mechanical problems arise.
- Improve work efficiency by working with the warehouse to improve material deliveries and material stock.
- Manage and support all emergent and urgent work within their area of responsibility.
- Evaluate, mentor, develop, coach, and provide feedback (positive or developmental) to the technicians as necessary.
- Assist with overtime management to reduce overtime percentages.
- Improve communication between Maintenance and other departments (Operations, Engineering, Safety, etc.) in their area of responsibility.
- Work directly with the Electrical, Instrument, Analyzer, and Mechanical Supervisors regarding the scheduling of work tasks.
- Adhere to and promote company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in manufacturing or related military experience.
- An accredited associate’s degree in Chemical Process or Chemical Technology or Chemical Process Certificate is required in lieu of experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Completed certification in all Chlor-Alkali operator jobs.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of Chlor-Alkali (CA) operations experience.
- Step-up supervisor experience.
- Prior supervising experience.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Tools.
- Background in scheduling and planning.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to push, pull, bend, and perform long periods of standing and walking on cement foundations.
- Occasionally required to stoop and kneel.
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to coordinate the movement of eyes, hands, feet, and fingers to operate tools and equipment.
- Required to be medically certified for respirator and medically fit for duty.
- Use of PPE required in specific areas.
Schedule
Available to work 12-hour rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
