About the role

The Senior Specialist, Laboratory Operations, coordinates and supports multiple laboratories within one or more departments. This could include ownership/responsibilities over any associated warehouse areas, performing glassware washing and media/buffer prep. They are expected to manage day-to-day operations, perform troubleshooting and problem solving, and anticipate the needs of all customers, including bench scientists.

The Manager, Laboratory Operations manages and supports one or more laboratories. They manage significant portions of operations across the department, such as freezer alarm management and thaw program. They are recognized as a subject matter expert in the department and have impact across department operations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supports multiple laboratories within one or more departments.
  • Owns/responsible for associated warehouse areas, performs glassware washing and media/buffer prep.
  • Manages day-to-day operations, troubleshoots and solves problems, anticipates customer needs.
  • Executes cross-functional processes such as equipment installation, working with engineering, facilities, suppliers, and procurement.
  • Oversees inventory management, including purchasing, maintaining, storing, and allocating lab equipment and supplies.
  • Provides direction to peers, develops proposals for management, completes assignments in a timely manner, and helps managers with assignments or projects.
  • Works on complex issues with a diverse scope in a matrixed organization.
  • Performs troubleshooting and complex problem solving, reaches solutions for most problems, leads process improvements.

Requirements

Experienced and works independently to manage day-to-day operations. Highly customer service oriented and has a track record of anticipating the needs of all customers, including bench scientists.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., chemistry, biochemistry, biology).
  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory operations experience.
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and procedures.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
