About the role

At Shoe Carnival, we offer the perfect opportunity for fresh out of college candidates with a degree in fashion merchandising or retail to kickstart their career as a Buyer’s Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Work on-site at Shoe Carnival’s corporate office in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
• Option to work remotely on Fridays.
• Create and maintain merchandise analysis reports in Excel.
• Create or reproduce reports, forms, correspondence, and other materials as needed by the Buyer.
• Establish and maintain official documents and records in appropriate files.
• Manage vendor contacts and schedules.
• Facilitate and ensure timely completion of sample process flows.
• Manage the sample room and tag all samples when they are bought.
• Prepare and create all purchase orders, including price change data entry.
• Handle visitors, calls, and phone logs for the Buyer, ensuring proper responses are received.
• Absorb and assist the Merchandising team as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Strong computer skills including a proven ability to create and maintain complex analysis reports.
• Experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and build collaborative relationships.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors at every level.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• On-the-job training provided.
