Buyer/Planner II

Santa Barbara Infrared, Inc. SBIR designs and manufactures advanced Infrared (IR) and Electro-Optical (E-O) test instrumentation, supporting military and commercial sensor systems worldwide.

About the role

The Buyer/Planner II will purchase materials required for production, manage supplier relationships, and optimize planning policies within the company’s MRP system.

Responsibilities

• Purchase production materials, including raw materials, machined parts, electronic components, tools, and supplies.
• Develop supplier relationships, negotiate prices, and coordinate logistics.
• Initiate RFQs and onboard capable suppliers.
• Analyze part usage and sales forecasts to set up planning policies in the MRP system.
• Assist the Purchasing team with technical planning questions.
• Manage supply chain projects with limited supervision.
• Represent the Materials team in Engineering Change Order (ECO) meetings.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, including supplier development and process/cost improvement.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully.
• Participate in the Materials group’s continuous improvement projects.
• Work with limited or no supervision.

Requirements

• Must be able to work full time onsite.

Pay

$75,000.00/yr. - $105,000.00/yr., depending on experience.
