About the role
This role collaborates with various teams within the company to support Supply Chain functions. The Buyer II will manage purchasing and sourcing activities, work with suppliers, and ensure supply continuity.
Responsibilities
- Leverage expertise to resolve problems and complete projects.
- Assist with core purchasing and sourcing activities for multiple Business Units.
- Manage supply continuity risks and procure goods and services for R&D, NPI, and Production.
- Work with R&D and PD to manage materials through the transition from NPI to commercial production.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, including facilitating supplier calls and managing scorecards.
- Partner with Senior Buyers and Materials Management to execute Supply Agreements with key suppliers.
- Support Quality by executing Quality Agreements.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure they meet requirements and remain on the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Collaborate with Sourcing to drive and execute projects.
- Participate in recurring meetings with key suppliers to ensure delivery schedules are on track and address any issues.
- Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate costs and terms with suppliers.
- Recommend suppliers based on cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.
- Work with suppliers to understand Tier 2 suppliers and ensure continuity of supply.
- Participate in standard Cost and EOL reviews with finance.
- Promote and submit ideas for Continuous Improvement.
- Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), as assigned.
- Create component Bill of Materials (BOMs) and routings in QAD.
- Place purchase orders with suppliers for the procurement of production material as required by the forecast, MRP, and production schedule.
- Purchase supplies, equipment, and miscellaneous items for individual departments via purchase requisition processes.
- Resolve supplier issues with Finance and Quality.
- Resolve component incoming acceptance issues with Receiving and Quality Technicians.
- Create and establish optimal inventory levels based on the forecast, demand variation, and material lead times.
- Plan and coordinate BOM changes, obsolescence, and new components with Production and Quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical or Business discipline and a minimum of 1 years of related experience of MRP planning in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and applicable Quality Management System (QMS) standards.
- Knowledge of ERP, item master parameters, bill of materials, product structure, routings, and master scheduling.
- Demonstrated experience with automated purchasing systems, preferably QAD.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and achieve resolutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, follow through, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to understand business goals, anticipate needs based on changing work demand, and respond to concerns and resolve materials conflicts.
- Experience with detailed data entry to accurately record inventories and materials information and transact material lots through processes and inventory locations.
