Buyer/Planner I

About the Role

This is a fully onsite role, with work performed at your designated Regal Rexnord office. Manages and plans all Materials-related functions, including Purchasing, Production Scheduling, Inventory Control, and Global Sourcing.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing and inventory control functions to meet on-time delivery goals and other company metrics (quality, delivery, cost)
• Requisition material and establish sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability
• Examine material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications
• Compute the amount of material required to complete job orders
• Challenge vendors on lead times and pricing with professionalism
• Compile and maintain manual or computerized records such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials within the ERP/MRP system
• Provide support to production scheduling on all material flow issues to meet production schedules and customer requirements
• Utilize Kanban and other “Lean Manufacturing” techniques to improve inventory turns and total working capital management
• Work closely with other departments such as Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing on new product development and other related projects
• Review visual schedules and related information to coordinate the planning and forecasting of customer orders to meet shipments
• Conduct FAS (Final Assembly Schedule) meetings with sales (frequency to be determined by Materials Manager and Business Unit Manager)
• Lead the larger buying/planning orders using the most cost-effective and efficient practices
• Support and assist other buyers in developing their knowledge of best practices and effective use of the ERP system

Qualifications

• 5 Years’ Materials Management Experience as a Purchasing Agent, Planner/Scheduler, Planner/Buyer, or Master Scheduler in a manufacturing environment (preferably machining)
• APICS (CPIM and CPM) certifications preferred
• Prior knowledge of and experience with continuous improvement tools (lean manufacturing techniques, rate-based planning, Kanban replenishment, etc.) is preferred
• Prior experience in low-volume metalworking, CNC & manual machine shop environments is preferred
