About the role

Mueller Company (Mueller Co.), the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an immediate opening for a Buyer/Planner in our Cleveland, TN facility.

Responsibilities

  • Purchase and negotiate materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Maintain day-to-day communication with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, system data integrity, and ordering parameters for individual materials.
  • Schedule production by issuing work orders and maintaining schedules.
  • Maintain ideal inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries while maximizing turns and minimizing carrying costs.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  • Perform a variety of complicated tasks.
  • Understand the dynamics of effective teamwork to attain higher levels of performance.
  • Understand lean manufacturing and demonstrate various lean practices.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to engage teams in other departments or divisions of the organization.
  • Follow and challenge Standard Work processes daily.
  • Identify roadblocks in material/information flow and manage exceptions.
  • Highlight data trends for the business.
  • Demonstrate risk awareness and mitigation.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team, knowing your role based on project/task.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieve goals through influence.
  • Cultural knowledge and sensitivity.
  • Analytical mindset.
  • Ability to adapt to system/technology changes and use current systems.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to blend multiple sources of data to formulate opinions and recommendations.
  • Exposure to global thought processes and diversity.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • JD Edwards system experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, business or supply chain preferred.
  • Three to five years of professional supply chain experience.

No overnight travel is required.
