Position Summary
This position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials and equipment from suppliers for all brands of TWG and for planning capacity of assigned areas.
Essential Responsibilities
- Understand MRP impacts on delivery schedules and maintain MRP data, part setup, and manufacturing lead times for assigned parts.
- Cook up and maintain production work orders and delivery schedules for all MRP demands.
- Level-load schedules to establish more consistent production rates.
- Track progress of work orders, production rates, and performance to schedule.
- Maintain inventory for non-moving materials, adjustments, and scrap transactions for assigned parts.
- Expedite parts needed for projected production shortages with Commodity Managers.
- Cook up schedule changes with Commodity Managers, Buyers, Sales and Engineering.
- Perform capacity planning to identify and resolve resource overloads.
- Provide management reports and presentations as assigned.
- Negotiate material components from manufacturing representatives or other sellers based on quality, cost, service, and delivery standards.
- Confer with new suppliers to seek out more cost-efficient products and establish and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship, foster feedback and continuous improvement, using scorecards and analytical tools.
- Create and review material requisitions and purchase orders for materials on a consistent and timely basis to support plant operations and meet/exceed inventory goals.
- Cook up and own programs that will assist the operation in meeting/exceeding inventory objectives while ensuring build schedules can be produced as needed.
- Take corrective action with suppliers for defective or damaged materials and communicate with shipping, receiving and QA personnel to determine and control conditions of goods and services.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain, logistics, or related field; 5-8 years’ experience in materials management, procurement, or related supply chain fields; or equivalent combined of education and experience.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP accreditation preferred.
- Must be able to travel as required and /or directed.
