Buyer Level 1

Position Summary

The Level 1 Buyer places orders for finished and raw materials. Maintains proper inventory levels and successful vendor relationships. This role will work with Receiving, Inventory Control, Accounting, Quality Control, and Vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and evaluate supplier relationships.
• Review purchase requisitions for accuracy.
• Purchase finished products, supplies and services at the lowest possible cost consistent with accepted standard of quality and service within established time frames.
• Coincide return of rejected, unsuitable, or damaged RMAs and overstock/over shipped RMAs.
• Maintain awareness of current market conditions, new products, and supply sources to support the business and the independent business owners for Market America, Inc.
• Comply with company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Education and Experience

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• An associate degree in a business-related field preferred.
• One to two years of commodity purchasing experience preferred.

Computer/Communication Skills

• Proficient use of MS Office programs: Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• High level of proficiency in MS Excel.
• Above moderate level of proficiency in reading comprehension, writing, and speaking in English.
• Above moderate to high levels in active listening, attention to detail, critical thinking, mathematics, creative problem solving, complex problem solving, and judgment.
