About the role

The Buyer 1 is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and key production components from vendors. The Buyer 1 is assigned specific inventory items and vendors as needed for production in two USA plants and is required to have inventory on hand at all times to satisfy production demands.

Responsibilities

• Places, tracks, and expedites orders with suppliers worldwide.
• Monitors stock levels in SAP on a daily basis to satisfy production demand.
• Pro-actively expedites orders to meet customer requirements.
• Develops and maintains personal contacts and partnerships with suppliers.
• Supports Team Leads and Sr. Buyers as needed for projects and tasks.
• Assists purchasing and other departments to locate new suppliers and obtain quotes on materials.
• Manages supplier shortages and daily activities for assigned commodities (MRP) and works closely to support Senior Buyers in all aspects of operational supplier management.
• Resolves quality cases that apply to suppliers managed by the buyer.
• Assists Team Leads and Sr. Buyers in the implementation of short and long-term market trends for responsible commodities.
• Works with Warehouse staff to resolve goods receipt issues.
• Evaluates and adjusts purchasing master data in SAP under the guidance of Team Leads and Sr. Buyers.
• Works closely with accounting to resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in business or related field strongly preferred.
• Must have 4+ years of purchasing experience.
• Negotiation experience.
• Experienced in the use of Microsoft programs and ERP systems.
• SAP experience preferred.
• Experience working according to ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
• Must be a team player with clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal.

Pay

The base pay for this position ranges from $65,000 - $80,000 annually with a target performance bonus of 7% of an employee’s annual base salary. Compensation is based on several factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
