BUYER IV (R&D)

About the Role

The Buyer IV, (R&D) will be responsible for managing complex product manufacturing suppliers that support the War Fighter. This candidate will monitor supplier performance, strategize, negotiate, and interface with cross-functional teams within Marvin to support manufacturing. The position requires providing the best value solution that aligns with supply chain goals, including cost, quality, and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience in machining, fabrication, and finishing, along with a strong understanding of military-level quality requirements and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Purchases materials, supplies, and services at the most favorable terms for the organization.
• Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services.
• Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information.
• Checks and guides the work of lower-level buyers.
• Acts as a specialist on complex technical and business matters.
• Works highly independently and may assume a team lead role.
• Develops and supports comprehensive sourcing strategies in a team environment.
• Coordinates work processes/approvals with senior management and internal customers.
• Demonstrates commitment to the on-time delivery of quality products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Logistics, or related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience with the procurement of machined and fabricated components.
• Experience with purchasing in Aerospace or Defense.
• Ability to understand and interpret mechanical drawings.
• DFAR/FAR experience.
• Experience managing suppliers to KPIs.
• Strong negotiation skills and longstanding relationships within the manufacturing community.
• Action-oriented with a record of achieving business goals.
• Strategic thinker with creative problem-solving approaches.
• High personal and professional integrity.
• Self-starting, highly organized, outgoing with excellent people skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with on-time delivery as a priority.
• Proficiency in computer software such as Word and Excel.
• ERP systems experience.
• Strong mathematical and English communication skills.
• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing suppliers qualified in Determinant Manufacturing.
• SAP experience.

Pay

Base Salary Range: $95,000 - $125,000. Salary is based on skills, education, and experience.

Schedule

This position is 100% onsite and requires 10% travel.
