Buyer III
Position Summary
Responsible for purchasing and the tactical management of assigned suppliers and/or categories from receipt of planning requirements to payment of invoice. This includes but is not limited to order placement, cost savings initiatives, performance of assigned suppliers, rejections, and supplier suggestions or part moves within assigned supplier categories.
Essential Responsibilities
- Responsible for the purchase order from the initial demand signal to stock.
- Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies of increased complexity and importance.
- Solicits bids, analyzes quotes, and conducts cost/price analyses.
- Negotiates price and selects or recommends suppliers.
- Manages and executes day to day activities as trained.
- Follows standard work in relation to communicating specifications, quantity, quality, and delivery commitments using approved authority.
- Maintains personal knowledge of the supplier, government regulations, and established purchasing practices and procedures.
- Identifies and implements ideas for performance improvement, cost savings and supplier/supply strategy within assigned category(s).
- Works with P2P on payment issues as needed.
- Provides system and process training and mentorship to less experienced buyers.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred with minimum 5-7 years of purchasing experience.
- Must possess a broad knowledge of the market and a technical knowledge of materials and equipment.
- Possesses strong process and technical familiarity with modern ERP/MRPII or an automated purchasing systems like Oracle.
- Requires strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to travel. If required, most travel will be local. However, some domestic or international overnight travel may be required.
