About the Role

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for sourcing and procuring electronic components and related materials to support production and product development, as well as planning day-to-day production, ordering, safety stocks, and shipping through the MRP and Job Board. This role focuses on strategic sourcing, supplier management, cost control, and ensuring continuity of supply in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Source and procure electro-mechanical components (e.g., semiconductors, PCBs, connectors, passive components, metals, wire, inverters)
  • Run the daily MRP and create and maintain the job board and PO placement, build schedules, and drive to completion
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies to mitigate supply chain risks and component shortages
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers, including global and contract manufacturers
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and long-term supply agreements
  • Monitor market trends, including component availability, lifecycle status, and pricing fluctuations
  • Manage supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness)
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and planning teams to support new product introductions (NPI)
  • Ensure availability of components to meet production schedules and minimize downtime
  • Review and manage BOM (Bill of Materials) costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities
  • Handle obsolescence management and recommend alternate or substitute components
  • Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP/MRP systems
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH) and company policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
  • 2-5+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in electronics or manufacturing
  • Experience working with suppliers
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
  • Advanced Excel and data analysis skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with contract manufacturing and EMS providers
  • APICS certification (e.g., CSCP) or CPSM
  • Familiarity with import/export regulations and logistics
