Buyer II
About the role
The Buyer is responsible for quoting, negotiating pricing and purchasing inventory and materials in support of CPI needs. Works with close supervision.
Responsibilities
- Primary Liaison between CPI and our suppliers
- Source parts required (production and facility) from suppliers
- Aid Engineering with the qualification of new suppliers identified in sourcing efforts
- Create and maintain purchase orders
- Pull all documentation and send out quote requests to suppliers
- Evaluate supplier quotes and award accordingly
- Work with Planning to dispose of excess and obsolete material
- Aid Accounts Payable to resolve invoice discrepancies
- Resolve and/or escalate supplier-related issues in a timely manner
- Help resolve issues and answer questions from other CPI employees
- Support Business Development efforts by preparing costed BOMs for quotes
- Develop and implement supply chain automation
- Perform other tasks and duties as required
Qualifications
- Working experience with ERP and/or MRP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
- Working knowledge of item attributes and their effects on MRP messages
- Excellent organizational skills
- In-depth knowledge/understanding of Government contractor purchasing requirements
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships

Benefits
$60,000 - $70,000 Annually.
Pay

Schedule
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing. Ability to work seated at a computer for long periods of time. Ability to go onto the shop floor and other departments as needed.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Associate or bachelor’s degree and/or APICS certification a plus
- 5 to 7 years’ experience as a Buyer within a manufacturing environment

This position requires potential access to technology controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). The successful candidate must be a "U.S. Person as defined under ITAR and EAR.
