Buyer I
About the role
The Buyer I position is responsible for negotiating favorable terms, volume discounts, and long-term contracts with suppliers. They prepare and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services, and supplies for both customer-related business processes and internal use. This role also involves driving ongoing supplier optimization and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP, including blanket/framework orders
- Communicate requirements to suppliers, expedite orders, resolve discrepancies, and serve as point of escalation for supplier issues
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels for facility and office supplies; monitor expenditures against budget; control cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and HSE-related activities
- Apply Danaher Business System (DBS) tools (e.g., Standard Work, Visual Management, Kanban) to ensure sustainable results; communicate order status and lead times to Leadership and internal stakeholders
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience using continuous improvement tools (e.g., Lean, DMAIC, Standard Work)
- Working knowledge of purchasing processes, SAP systems (or similar)
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and demonstrated administrative skills
- Strong sourcing, quoting, and supplier negotiation skills (LT, MOQ, pricing, packaging, PPV/PPC)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a dynamic environment
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
- Demonstrated ability to operate within budget and cost frameworks
