Job Summary
Our client in Troy, MI is seeking a Buyer-Exterior for a Contract position. This role requires an energetic, organized, and experienced professional who can bring a “roll up the sleeves” approach to responsibilities that range from sourcing and purchasing production parts to managing supplier negotiations and aligning with global terms and conditions.
About the Role
This role embraces a startup company mindset of being fast, frugal, scrappy, and fun. It involves developing a strategic supply base, leading supplier negotiations, and managing RFIs, RFQs, and commercial agreements to meet cost targets, deliverables, and project timelines. The role also includes source and purchase production parts, service parts, tooling, and services, while resolving cost, quality, and delivery issues. Additionally, it entails taking ownership of Automotive Exterior sourcing, ensuring precision fit, supplier readiness, risk mitigation, and launch timing. Collaboration across functions is essential to implement cost reductions, drive supplier quality, and adhere to Global Terms and Conditions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8-10 years of experience in Procurement/Supply Chain Management or Engineering
- Proven experience sourcing Automotive Interior and/or Exterior/Closures
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Ability to identify process issues and drive improvements to improve operational efficiency
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems and implementation – i.e. SAP, Plex
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- High level of integrity
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment
Qualifications
