About the role
USA Compression Partners, LP (NYSE: USAC) provides mission-critical natural gas compression services to large upstream and midstream energy companies. We are an operations-centric, technology-driven employer with 800+ employees across 18 states. The Buyer is responsible for procuring goods and equipment vital to USAC’s operations, sourcing material providers, negotiating pricing, and arranging purchase and delivery in accordance with USAC guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate material requisitions from internal clients and source materials from inventory or issue Purchase Orders to vendors/manufacturers according to specifications, business ethics, and procurement guidelines.
- Negotiate and legally bind the Corporation with suppliers for materials, including expediting for timely delivery, managing costs, warranties, shipments, payments, cancellations, and liquidated damages.
- Assist in negotiating corrective action plans for failed materials or late delivery.
- Monitor open requisitions, obtain vendor pricing, create and issue purchase orders, and expedite for timely delivery.
- Facilitate and communicate logistical needs, monitor open purchase orders in SAP, and report as required.
- Provide project material price estimates and solicit pricing from vendors/manufacturers as needed.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Interface efficiently with internal clients and suppliers with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of buying, pricing, and expediting experience within a purchasing division.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong working knowledge of natural gas compression parts, industry specifications, and procurement/supply chain management.
- Familiarity with current market conditions, pricing, and sources of supply.
- Ability to handle complex and confidential matters professionally.
- Effective communication with all levels of internal and external personnel.
- Proficient organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and web-based programs.
- Familiarity with SAP MM.
Working Conditions
- Typically normal office working conditions.
- Must remain stationary (sitting or standing) for 50% of the time due to prolonged periods at a desk.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings with potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, extreme temperatures, loud machinery, and required personal protective equipment.
