About the role
Purchasing of materials, components, supplies, and services essential to support operations for a GSE manufacturer. Ensure purchases from a global supply base meet required quality and quantity at the most economical cost and with timely delivery.
Responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders according to MRP demand and incoming requisition forms
- Analyze MRP demand and adjust orders according to production schedule needs
- Update item data settings to improve MRP signals
- Coordinate domestic and international transportation
- Develop supply base to meet business requirements of on-time delivery (OTD), quality, inventory turns, etc.
- Prepare and issue RFQ requests, and compare total cost of ownership (TCO) to find the best supply chain setup
- Challenge vendor quotes and drive cost reductions; report cost savings
- Manage vendor warranty claims
- Maintain clear and efficient communication with internal and external personnel
- Work closely with planning, operations, and engineering teams
- Establish standards and procedures for continuous improvement
- Perform other duties as designated by the department manager
- Continuously improve technical and supervisory skills by attending training classes, seminars, exhibits, and trade shows
Requirements
- 2-4 years of related purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proven negotiation skills
- Demonstrated ability to resolve supply chain, inventory, quality, and supplier-related issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with an ERP system (Infor/Baan preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- APICS certification preferred
