Teledyne Tekmar, a division of Teledyne Instruments Inc., is a leader in the design and manufacturing of analytical instrumentation for the laboratory, providing productivity-enhancing solutions to industries such as environmental monitoring, oceanographic research, medical imaging, and pharmaceuticals. Our product lines include Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) systems for Gas Chromatography (GC) Sample Introduction, High-Throughput Purge and Trap sample concentration, Sample Automation, and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) Analyzers.

About the role

The buyer evaluates, selects, places, and expedites assigned procurement contracts or portions of contracts with high complexity, diversification, or expense. This role networks with key contacts outside your area of expertise and is based in our Mason, OH home office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all procurement activities from intent to purchase through delivery.
• Analyzes commodity requirements, including specifications, preferred suppliers, and delivery timelines.
• Works with production planning teams to ensure supply continuity and communicates with vendors to guarantee on-time delivery at negotiated prices and quality standards.
• Resolves shortages and supplier issues.
• Processes MRP reports, creates and reviews purchase orders, expedites delinquent shipments, and implements corrective actions with vendors.
• Investigates and interviews potential suppliers to assess their capability to meet requirements and advises on supplier selection.
• Creates and executes RFQs and RFPs, negotiating competitive costs while balancing quality, inventory, and schedule needs.
• Implements and ensures compliance with globally defined procurement methods, processes, and systems for efficiency and regulatory adherence (company and government).
• Reviews and maintains inventory reports daily to manage stock levels.
• Coordinates cost-effective distribution methods for commodities.
• Available for evenings and weekends as needed to meet project goals and deadlines.
• Follows all import/export requirements, consulting with facility personnel as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in a related field, with 5-10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of schooling and experience.
• Preferably from a manufacturing environment in instrumentation.
• Knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word; experience with MS AX software is a plus.
• Commitment to conducting business with the highest ethical standards, complying with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules.
