About the role
The Buyer purchases goods and services for the company, executing procurement activities and collaborating with multiple internal departments to review business requirements. This role involves regular negotiation with suppliers, identifying cost-saving opportunities, examining prices, managing product or service availability, and reviewing alternatives to fulfill objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day purchasing workflows, including the purchase order (PO) placement process to ensure on-time delivery of product and on-time payment of all invoices.
- Manage exceptions and work with suppliers to resolve invoice or delivery discrepancies.
- Create purchase orders from requisitions.
- Facilitate periodic requests for quote (RFQ) to all appropriate suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and payment terms, as well as manage the portfolio of items the company carries.
- Review inventory and purchasing data to support sourcing needs.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and terms, leveraging purchasing volume to drive cost savings and protect profit margins.
- Monitor supplier performance by ensuring product is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintain a supplier scorecard to track compliance and communicate performance expectations.
- Assist in contract negotiation and request quotes to secure competitive pricing.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to maintain quality and delivery standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience in a related field.
- Ability to effectively participate as a member of a project team, interfacing with various departmental representatives.
- Analytical capability in metrics, volumes, trends, and financial information.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks and projects in an environment of competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Advanced computer skills, including G-Suite, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
- Experience in Oracle, SAP, or a similar ERP system.
Pay
Starting salary for this opportunity: $58,128.72 to $77,504.97. Compensation decisions will not be based on a candidate's salary history.
