About the role
Job Title: Buyer
Location: Santa Barbara/Goleta, CA
Schedule: Onsite
Responsibilities
- Buying: Source commodities, negotiate prices and lead times, execute RFQ to PO sourcing within commodity strategy, lead negotiation of flexible supply strategies to achieve cost and lead-time goals.
- Leadership: Facilitate and influence cross-functional discussions within product line teams to drive consensus and gain commitment to agreed-upon action plans and follow-up to commitments within the organization.
- Problem Solving: Develop structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., A3, 5 Why, 8D, Production Pareto, RC/CA) to approach issues and develop solutions with a continual improvement mindset, and recognize and escalate when efforts stall.
- Planning: Work constraints, mastery of part requirements and associated impacts across the supply chain, including historical and trending analysis, and advanced planning parameters, manage a master schedule, utilize capacity planning tools, construct basic planning bills, and identify supply risks and opportunities.
- Continuous Improvement: Generate new ideas using analytics and data to assess trends within SME scope, frame opportunities for consideration to SC strategic team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or equivalent
- Three (3) years of prior relevant experience
- APICS Certification in Purchasing, Production, and Inventory Control preferred
- Leverage Lean Manufacturing Certification or experience preferred
Qualifications
- Understanding of Moog’s mission-critical systems and operations
- Experience in sourcing and negotiating with suppliers
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
