Buyer

Responsibilities

• Negotiate supplier contracts and terms to secure best quality, delivery and cost for goods and services required by the organization
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, facilitating regular cadence of governance
• Monitor supplier performance, track key performance indicators, and implement corrective actions as needed
• Reviews and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders, maintain purchase order accuracy and ensure compliance with all company policies
• Work closely with Accounts Payable and Materials team as it relates to purchases, invoices, and receiving
• Address day-to-day procurement issues like delivery delays or quality concerns
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs to ensure timely availability of materials
• Work with planning and operational excellence team to implement lean practices with suppliers such as kanban, min/max or just in time manufacturing processes
• Prepare and maintain records in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Maintain the supplier master and all purchasing data in the ERP system

Requirements

• Proficiency in inventory management systems and production planning software. SAP experience preferred
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to problem-solve
• Self-starter with ability to multitask to accommodate business needs
• Exceptional negotiation skills; experienced in developing win-win relationships with key suppliers
