Buyer
Position Summary
The buyer role is responsible for strategically sourcing and procuring components, materials, and services that support the manufacturing of interconnect solutions such as connectors, cable assemblies, and related electronic components. This role ensures continuity of supply, cost competitiveness, and alignment with quality and delivery requirements in a fast-paced, high-mix, often globally distributed supply environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for commodities such as connectors, metals, plastics, cable, and electronic components
Manage supplier relationships, including negotiation of pricing, terms, long-term agreements, and performance expectations
Analyze market trends, cost drivers, and supply risks to proactively mitigate disruptions and identify opportunities for cost savings
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, planning, and operations teams to support new product introductions (NPI), design-for-cost initiatives, and demand alignment
Lead contract negotiations aligned with company objectives
Monitor supplier performance using KPIs (on-time delivery, quality, cost, responsiveness) and implement corrective actions when needed
Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., RoHS, REACH, conflict minerals)
Support inventory management strategies, balancing working capital targets with service level requirements
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field required plus 5 years of relevant experience, ideally within electronics, interconnect, or manufacturing environments.
7+ years of relevant procurement or sourcing experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, ideally within electronics, interconnect, or manufacturing environments.
This position requires a US Citizen due to ITAR/Governmental contracts and NO FORN projects.
Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills
Experience working with global supply bases and understanding of commodity markets
Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems, data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Travel periodically, up to 10%
Benefits
Specific benefits are dependent upon whether or not the position is part of a collective-bargaining agreement. The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations. Equal Pay Act Range Annual Salary range is from $95,800.00 to $142,800.00, plus benefits & incentive plans.
