About the role

The Buyer will provide high level purchasing support (strategic and tactical) to High Industries and High Concrete Group LLC. This position will support the planning and procurement of direct/indirect materials, services, and equipment in support of operations and manufacturing for over $200M in annual revenue across multiple locations. An ideal candidate will have the ability to leverage, negotiate, and communicate pricing as well as monitor and proactively react to market trends in connection with materials and services.

Responsibilities

  • Use SAP to procure direct/indirect materials needed for daily production and operations
  • Assist with supplier contract negotiations and develop contract documentation
  • Oversee/perform invoice resolution activities as needed
  • Oversee/perform supplier evaluations, onboarding, relationship management, and diamond meetings as needed
  • Visit new and existing suppliers to verify supplier capabilities, quality, and capacity
  • Advise Operations, Estimating and Engineering departments of market conditions, lead times, and possible price increases
  • Support the organization in the identification and development of process improvement activities
  • Obtain technical information, pricing, and advice from suppliers for other departments as needed
  • Keep abreast of the industry in order to be aware of new methods, equipment, etc. Attend new equipment and product shows relative to the concrete industry
  • Participate in operations meetings, special committees, etc., and advise operational personnel and other purchasing personnel within High Companies/High Concrete Group LLC
  • Be committed to continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of tactical and strategic procurement/supply chain experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or equivalent experience
  • APICS Certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred or willingness to pursue
  • Proficient in MRP/ERP systems, preferably SAP
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and ability to analyze/compile/organize complex data
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent contract negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Ability to use strategic thinking along with tactical buying experience
  • Ability to travel
