About the Role

EBAD seeks a Buyer supporting our direct and indirect spend and production programs, reporting to the Purchasing Manager in our Simsbury, CT location. You will actively contribute to successful missions putting men, women, and satellites into space, and protecting our armed service members around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Handle indirect and direct purchasing, alternative supplier sourcing, and delivery of materials & services in support of EBAD’s Simsbury, CT Operations and Engineering Development teams.
  • Create and manage supplier Requests for Quotations, Purchase Orders, and supply Kanbans.
  • Assess supply base capability vs. need, perform supplier sourcing, risk assessment, supplier selection & development, and negotiation with suppliers.
  • Manage scheduling, ERP/MRP system planning, supplier Purchase Order management, conflict resolution, and supplier follow-up to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products at least total cost.
  • Serve as procurement representative on new product business proposals with Proposal Engineers and Development Engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for purchasing, storage, and transportation of materials.
  • Develop procurement cost justifications consistent with Contractor Purchasing System Review (CPSR), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), and DFAR (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations).
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, collaborating with suppliers and internal customers to improve cost, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously at a tactical level.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or a relevant discipline.
  • 8+ years of tactical purchasing or related experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Experience in low-volume development-scale procurement (R&D) and low/medium-volume production procurement is desirable.
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing practices, and basic operation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFARS and related government procurement documentation requirements.
  • Proficiency in MS Windows applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
